The Endeavour Programme
The Endeavour Programme aims to provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages high-achieving students to excel academically and personally.
We believe in developing the whole child by promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills alongside academic excellence. With an Endeavour attitude pupils demonstrate passion, curiosity and aptitude which will support their successes whatever route they take post-GCSE’s.Â
The Endeavour Program is open to students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and a passion for learning. Selection for the program is based on academic records from assessments. Year 7’s are introduced later in the Autumn term to give them a chance to settle in and are chosen based on their SAT’s scores with placements being further reviewed after the first set of internal assessments in Winter. Membership for all years is reviewed annually.Â
Each year group takes part in a mixture of internal and external events each year aimed to boost both their academic and interpersonal skills.Â
Examples of events include but are not limited to…
- Maths Challenge: Introduction to advanced mathematical concepts through the Maths Challenge. This national competition encourages problem-solving skills and logical thinking, providing an excellent foundation for future mathematical pursuits.
- Linguistics Olympiad: Exposure to the fascinating world of languages and linguistics through participation in the Linguistics Olympiad. Students will tackle language puzzles that develop analytical skills and a deeper understanding of linguistic structures.
- Brilliant Club Scholars Programme: Early applications to be available to those on the endeavour program to be enrolled in the Scholars Program. This program pairs students with PhD researchers to complete a university-style project. The seminar and project content are designed and delivered based on the PhD researchers expertism, thus the topic changes year to year. This experience enhances research skills, critical and lateral thinking, and provides valuable insight into higher education. Past topics include: “Help!!!” How should we plan emergency communication? and Fine Art: Using Renaissance Intarsia to Improve our Concept of Art.
- Referencing Workshop at The Hive: Attendance at a referencing workshop run by the University of Worcester at The Hive. This workshop teaches students how to properly reference academic sources, a crucial skill for higher-level studies.
- University Information Seminar: Participation in a seminar that provides detailed information about university options, application processes, and future academic opportunities. This seminar aims to prepare students for higher education and guide them in making informed decisions about their academic careers. Run by the outreach from Oxford University.
- Poster Presentation and Conference: Development of a poster presentation on a topic of the student's choice, encouraging in-depth research and creative expression. This project will culminate in a poster conference where students present their work to peers, teachers, and invited guests, fostering public speaking, creative design, and presentation skills.
