Free School Meals

If your child can get Free School Meals, they will have a lunch worth £2.80 every day in school .
This lunch is free for you.

.For each student recorded as Free School Meals, the school gets extra money,  we receive additional funding. We use this money to help children in many ways:

  • Support in lessons
  • Extra help with learning
  • Mental health support
  • Careers advice
  • Clubs, trips, and activities
  • Extra equipment

All information you give us is confidential (private).

Could your child be entitled to Free School Meals?

You can apply if you receive one of these:

  • Universal Credit, and your household income is £7,400 per year (£616 per month) or less (after tax, not including benefits)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (Part 6)
  • Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) and your income is less than £16,190
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit
  • Income-based Employment and Support Allowance
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying)

You may also apply if your family is in one of these groups:

  • Zambrano carers
  • Families with no recourse to public funds but with a right to stay in the UK under family life rules
  • Families supported under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 with no recourse to public funds
  • Some failed asylum seekers supported under Section 4 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Chen carers
  • Families with a BN(O) passport
  • Spousal visa holders
  • Work visa holders
  • Student visa holders
  • Families with no immigration status

Financial rules

  • Families with 1 child: income must be £22,700 or less
  • Families with 2 or more children: income must be £26,300 or less
